ICARS champions the human rights of all children, globally. Every child deserves to feel safe in every environment. School is where they spend much of their time. Educational staff and faculty ought to provide them with opportunities to learn and grow without fear and without harm. The use of restraint and seclusion in schools, worldwide, is a danger and threat to all of our children. The parent-led, volunteer advocates of ICARS are focused upon securing and protecting the fundamental human rights of our youth, everywhere.
ICARS was founded in May of 2018 by Beth Morrison and Zoey Read. At the end of that same year, Deirdre Shakespeare joined the organization. Recently, Becky Gillespie came aboard and her arrival has completed the formation of the Lead Team of ICARS.
ICARS is also comprised of Canada’s BCEDAccess and Inclusion BC, along with a large international team of passionate advocates from Canada, Europe, Australia, and the United States.
Soon to be added: the names of our international advocates and partnering organizations.
